A listener donated during WFCR's fall campaign, stipulating that his contribution was to support Valley Folk and Thistle & Shamrock.

When the station canceled these programs, he wrote a letter of protest, and demanded his contribution back. He says he received it, with no comment from the station. He also says "If other Valley Folk listeners haven't inquired about refunds yet then they definitely should."

----------------

Note: this is a very clear case. However the Task Force does not take the position that people should not pledge to WFCR, or that they should, or that they should pledge but conditionally, though we are agreed that the fund drive offers a chance, for people who call in, to give a comment on WFCR reform, asking it to be relayed to the staff. We recommend that callers request that WFCR create a Community Advisory Board (or reformulate the current WFCR Advisory Committee to be one) and hold quarterly open meetings with the public to stay in touch with its listeners.
